Get onto M11 travelling north. Exit motorway at juction 8 and take first exit at roundabout, signposted A120 and Hertford. At next roundabout take second exit following A120. At next roundabout take third exit, signposted B1383 and Saffron Walden. Pass through Stansted Mountfitchet, Ugley, Quenden and enter Newport. In centre of Newport turn left following signs for B1038 and Buntingford. Pass through Wicken Bonhunt into Clavering. In Clavering turn right immediately after Cricketers public house, signposted Arkesden. Come into Arkesden and the Axe is in the centre of the village on your left.
From Newmarket
Get onto A11 travelling south to London and M11. At A1301/B184/M11 junction turn off left following signs for Saffron Walden. At roundabout take first exit. At next roundabout take 3rd exit following signs for B1383 and Newport. Pass through Great Chesterford, Littlebury and enter Newport. In centre of Newport turn right following signs for B1038 and Buntingford. Pass through Wicken Bonhunt into Clavering.
